Strategic Planning: Study and analysis feedback interviews for Town Council member have been scheduled starting on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Staff, advisory committee and business community surveys will be sent the week of Monday, October 3. Community feedback follow-up meetings will be held in January 2018. Citizen Survey: The survey is on schedule to begin mailing notification postcards the week of October 2. Survey results are expected mid-December. Branding: No update since last edition. Land Use Plan: A selection committee comprised of staff have reviewed the responses to the Request for Proposals issued in August, and have scheduled interviews with the top two firms according to the scores provided by the selection†¦show more content†¦Google/ATT: Fiber: Google will start fiber installation in the Grace Park Townhomes in early October. Employee Spotlight Engineering employees Jim Meyer and Joshua Baird recently completed an intensive twelve-week construction management program through the Office of Professional Development at North Carolina State University. STRATEGIC PRIORITIES/KEY WORK ITEM UPDATES Church Street Park Staff Lead: Jerry Allen/Mike Wright Staff has met with the lighting manufacturer and electrical contractor to review specifications for the installation of the lighting system. Engineered drawings are being finalized for submittal with the contract documents. Staff also met with Triangle Cricket League to test the playing surface after working to improve the field conditions. The ground was still not stable enough for consistent play. Further review indicates the condition is likely caused by an inconsistent depth of topsoil and sand installed with the Bermuda sod during construction. This mixture does not have enough clay content to compact to the necessary level for cricket. Staff is now researching options for amending or replacing the soil to meet the necessary specifications for cricket league play.
